Paul Coleshill, a councillor who sits on the planning committee of the council, stated that since George House sits in a conservation area, when a design is chosen it needs to be something that will help preserve or enhance the area.

Coleshill continued to say, that if the design was more modern and innovative, then it would be okay to renovate the building, but that this design was neither modern, nor representative of the historical nature of the area.

Director of Reiach and Hall, Neil Gillespie stated that the firm is disappointed its design failed to pass the council vote, and that the company will now seek to find out if the opinion is one person’s opinion, or a collective view point of the council.
